Spring is an exciting time. a month of new beginnings. There's the evidence of new life all around us, and it seems natural that we're more open to exciting possibilities than at any other time.
Are you ready for something new and exciting to come into your life? A new job, new wardrobe, new furniture, new opportunity, new friends, new relationship, etc.? If so, one of the easiest, most effective ways to attract something new into your life is to create the space for it.
Often, when the change you desire doesn't happen, it's because you need to let go of something else to make room for it. You may have heard it said that nature hates a vacuum. It's true! If you want greater good, greater prosperity, greater peace and effectiveness in your life, start creating space or a "vacuum" to receive it. In other words, get rid of what you don't want to make room for what you do want.
There must be constant elimination of the old to keep pace with our naturally rapid personal growth. The normal progression of life is to always want things to be better. Just as children outgrow their shoes, we outgrow former ideals and standards . reaching toward the life that's just right for us!
When you desire change in various areas of your life, ask yourself this: "What am I letting go of to make room for it?" Once you begin to eliminate what you don't want, you make room for what you do want. This principle works for people, things, habits, activities, opportunities, just about anything. You need to get rid of what's taking up that space now, otherwise there's no room for what you really want.
If there are clothes in the closet or furniture in your home or office that no longer seem right for you, you need to make space for their replacements. If there are people among your acquaintances and friends that no longer seem congenial, you need to open up space for new relationships. If there are ideas, feelings or situations that no longer serve you, you need to eliminate them in order to adopt new ones.
CREATE A VACUUM!
Here are some practical ways this exciting principle can work for you:
Clothes. If you have drawers and closets packed with items you don't absolutely love, get rid of them! You may have clothes your friend gave your children that don't fit properly or clothes that don't look good on you because you've gained or lost weight. They may be the wrong color, get too wrinkled when you wear them, look inappropriate for your body type, or are just out of style. Give them away to someone who would appreciate them. Buy clothes and shoes because you love how they look on you, not because they're on sale. Always look your best and only dress your family members in things that look great on them as well.
Home and Office. Is there anything in your house that you don't need? Look in your garage, attic, drawers and closets. What about the badminton set that has never been used, the table you purchased at a yard sale but never got around to fixing, the old towels with holes in them? What about the dishes that don't match and the plastic containers without lids? What about the dusty dried flowers and the other decorations you no longer enjoy? Trash them, give them away or have a yard sale. (Donations to The Salvation Army, Good Will or other non-profit organizations are a legitimate tax deduction if you obtain a receipt.)
Go through your files at the office and toss out all those old memos, reports, and articles you've been saving in case you need them someday. Make believe you're moving next month and don't want to take all that clutter with you. Get rid of everything you don't want to have in your new place. What does your dream office look like anyway? I can just about guarantee it's spacious and clutter-free!
Hopefully by now the old slogan "less is more" is taking on new meaning for you. When you get rid of things, think to yourself, "I'm getting rid of this to make space for something new and better to come into my life." In some cases, it's the space you actually desire!
Create "vacuums" on a regular basis. You'll probably like it so much that you'll do it continually without even planning in advance. This process usually perpetuates itself. You may go through your home and office once, get rid of lots of "stuff" and then come back the next month and take it to an even greater level. I encourage people to be ruthless! In fact, sometimes it's worth it to have someone come over and help you be strong. I've actually had clients who've flown their mother in from out-of-town to help them get rid of stuff in their home because they knew they wouldn't have the courage themselves!
People. Think of the people who "drain" your energy. Limit the time you put yourself in their company. If you belong to groups in which there is a lot of gossip or negativity, get out! In a situation where you aren't able to get out of someone's presence (maybe you live or work with them) make sure you set strong boundaries in place so you are not compromising what you will no longer tolerate. Choose the type of people you want to have relationships with and go out and find them. Now that you've cleared a space, they will appear.
Your schedule and obligations. You may have volunteered for a certain position or joined a particular club or group years ago. At that time it was perfect for you, but you've outgrown it. Be courageous enough to get out of the commitment and set yourself free to experience what is right for you now.
How about your schedule? Are you in the trap of saying "yes" to everything? Many people think that being super busy is a sign of success, but it's not. When people are too busy, they may miss key opportunities or not be fully "present" to what's happening around them. This could also interfere with time they want to spend with their family, do hobbies they love, exercise, or other things they value highly.
The "vacuum" principle has everything to do with "energy". You are freeing up the energy attached to all those belongings, relationships, habits, obligations ---- and allowing room and energy for what you really want in your life. You also need to be very wise because once you create space, the universe will try to fill it. Say "no thank you" to anything less than best for you.
It takes bold, daring faith and a sense of adventure and expectation to set the "vacuum" principle into effect. Be brave, I know you can do it! Set yourself free so you can receive the ultimate love, peace, prosperity, and success that are already yours, as long as you make room for them.
Have a wonderfully rich month!
